Web Design, CSS, How do I make an image appear in front of my opaque background?

I know my tag brings the image into the web page because before I scaled it, it was immense and came out from behind the backgrounds I’m using to organize my page. Thanks, I know this is super simple, but I bit off a bit more than I could chew for a homework assignment and got myself into a huge time crunch.

You should show us your page or code. Otherwise I say just put your image in an image tag. But I think you know that.
