Is a person who is in the USA on an E2 Visa eligible for financial aid loans/ grants?
Is a person who is in the USA on an E2 Visa eligible for financial aid loans/ grants? I found this so far but it is not specific about the E2 visa:
ELIGIBLE NON-CITIZENS
To be eligible for federal, state, and most college financial assistance, a student must be a U.S. citizen, national or eligible permanent resident non-citizen. An eligible non-citizen is one who:
has an Alien Registration Receipt Card (I- 151 or I-551) or is a conditional permanent resident (I-151C);
has an Arrival-Departure Record (I-94) from the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service showing any one of the following designations —
a. refugee,
b. asylum granted,
c. Cuban-Haitian entrant, or
d. indefinite parole;
is a citizen of the Freely Associated States — Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia or the Republic of Palau (may receive only Pell Grant, Federal SEOG, and federal Work study)…
I believe person in the USA with an E2 visa eligible for financial aid loans and grants as long as he or she has a valid social security card.
Some colleges and universities offer scholarship and grants only for international students. The best step would be to talk with a financial adviser of the college or university you are intending to apply.
