NVIDIA Geforce not registering…?
Alright, so today I took out my graphics card and replaced it with an “NVIDIA GeForce 8600gt” by PNY.
I have Windows Vista, and unfortunately my graphics card seems not not be compatible. It is registered as “Standard VGA” in the devices menu, and I can’t get a screen saver as it says it “does not support Direct3D”.
The drivers off the disk fail to install, and one downloaded of NVIDIA’s site seems to have no effect.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks…
P.S. I bought the card before vista came out a couple of years ago, does that make a difference?
Well…
If Nvidia has drivers for the 8600GT for vista, then there should be no problem unless u still have ur old drivers, which may be interfering with ur new ones. And also, try installing DirectX 10.0 or 9.0c, it might help. And no, it doesn’t make a difference if u bought the card before vista. Its the drivers that make a difference.
AND TRY USING WINDOWS UPDATES! It might help!
