Graphics Software Reviews

Graphics Card questions, please help?
I’m getting a new graphic card, specifically for working in 3D software, and rendering (Im not running any games in this rig), been thinking to get Radeon HD2600XT. my questions are:
1. is there any difference in cards specifications that works better for 3D softwares than for gaming (i’ve been looking for reviews, and all are reviews for gaming purposes, i wonder if there’s any difference for this specific purpose)
2. is there any better deal (considering the budget i have
, maybe nvidia? 8600GTS?
3. if HD2600XT, then i will have to choose between the one with DDR3 – 512MB and DDR4 – 256MB, which one should i get.
4. and how about HIS X2600XT, what’s the difference with HD2600XT
I’m not a hardware guy, so, your answers will be very helpful.
Any help will be much appreciated.
thanks
Hiya,
Not really my speciality, but have some experience in 3D working environment (Sun microsystems).
The thing that you will want is fast frame rates capable of rendering your work/the work at 30fps (Frames Per Second) and above, as well as a lot of video ram – DDR3 512mb is currently the best option you list here. DDR4 256mb is a reasonable amount of ram, but the stress on this video card will be more than the stress placed on the DDR3 512mb video card.
Whilst the NVidia 8600GTS is a good system, I have had issues with the card – requiring reconfiguration of some hardware that we use inhouse. the HD2600XT shows a more universally reasonable performance over an extended period, and more exotic builds that we use. I like the HD2600XT, but once again get as much on-board RAM as you can afford. Also install the very latest updates for the card you choose (from manufacturers web-site)
Good luck with your efforts.
Hope this helps.
